What is Free Play Friday. Well it’s a weekly article on free games out there in the world. The game could be casual flash games to Free 2 Play MMOs to free downloads. The only condition is you must be able to play the whole game without spending a cent to do so. So enjoy this weeks Free Game. This week's game is Alliance of Valiant Arms, AVA. AVA is a modern day FPS. Basically the New Russian Government is trying to take over the world, while Europe, the UK, the US and China try to stop them. You know the basic story plot for most modern day FPS in the market. AVA is brought to us by RedDuck Inc, and Ijji, who runs the and handles the game service.
I found out about AVA in PC Gamer, They had a 2 page ad about the game and decided to check it out. Its uses the standard Free-2-Play model. Thinking ok this game will just be average as most of the F2P FPS are. I was wrong. This game is very well polished. It looks nice and plays great. At first I though the map were small and games go too quick but as I played more and more of the game it just felt right. The maps are perfect for quick matches. I would say a complete match would take about 15 to 20 minutes. Perfect for those who need a quick frag fix.
Graphics for this game are on par with any other FPS in this day and age, if not better. The player models are very detailed down to the point of seeing threads in the tactical vests. It even shows you what type of armor the player have equiped. The developers didn't waste time and just used standard models for everyone they made it reflect what you actually chose to equip. The character animation are pretty cool as well. When you shoot something they stagger and reflex, too bad it doesn't affect the player you shot. The weapons are done very well and look very much like their real world counterparts. Also the developers didn't stop there they took all this detail and carried it over to the maps. The maps looks great and besides just looking good they are actually designed quite well. You have cover that fits with the environment and doesn't look placed.
The game plays great as well. You have 3 different game play modes or missions. First is escort. You need to escort a tank to a specified point within the mission time. Its pretty simple stand near the tank to move it and repair it when needed. For the enemy you need to equip RPGs to destroy the tank. I know this is a standard game type but it is very fun in AVA. Guessing its due to the balanced maps. Another mission is Demolition. One team needs to pick-up C4 and then arm it at the bomb location. The defending team can disarm the C4 if its not protected. The last mission type is Annihilation. Your basic kill everyone on the other team. First team to reach the score wins. For a bonus in this mission type collect enemy dog tags that drop when you kill them. If you collect 3 tags you get a bonus to your score.
When playing the game you have a choice of 3 different classes. The Point Man, a quick class with smaller weapons great at close range fighting. Great to getting someplace in a hurry. The Rifle man, You basic soldier good at medium range fighting. Finally the Sniper, yes the long range support. The game has a pretty good weapon selection to support each class.
That’s right the weapon select is all depending the class you are playing. Don't worry you can switch classes in between spawns. You gain Euros by playing the game and completing challenges. You also get a good amount of Euros when starting as well as some different weapon choices. Just so you know the weapon loadout is pretty much what you expect in a modern day shooter. I didn't see anything that you don't see in any other games.
Overall I enjoyed this game much more than I thought I would. The matches are fast and well balanced. The graphics are outstanding and the game plays very well. If they keep updating this game with new weapons and equipment the game will last for a long time. This game is well worth the wait for download it. So head on over to AVA's website and create an account and download the game.
