Hmm not sure what to say about this. The game to me is average. I like the styling and the theme of the game but the game to me is just so-so. Nothing in the game makes me want to come back to playing it. I sometimes had to force myself to play the game just for this review. Will state right now I have not beaten the game but I have put in a good amount of play time into it. With all that said let me get into my feeling about the game.

As I stated the theme and look of the game are outstanding. At first when I hear Gearbox was going to go with a cell shaded look I wasn't sure I would like it but it does fit the game very well. Gearbox did an outstanding job on the graphics. As well with the world and theme, though some of the scenery did get a little bland after a while. The story is okay it works but its kind of generic. I have to admit I like how the story was delivered and it worked great with the world and the theme for the world. I also like how they worked the different characters into the game. When you start you find yourself on a bus and you get to pick one of the 4 characters. There is a soldier, you know the typical run and gun type, who can setup turrets to help you out. A hunter, who likes to battle from afar, who can also call upon a bird to come and help you out. The siren, who would be the sneaky rogue of the group, who can phasewalk or become invisible. And finally Brick who is the big melee heavy guy, he just smashes things and can go berserk about it.

Well Gearbox said there would be guns and lots of them. They were not lying but in truth the number of guns is only great due to random stats on them. This isn't bad cause you could get some really nice guns from this. Some could hold much more ammo or shoot faster but the best are guns that add elemental damage like fire and poison. Some of the changes are purely cosmetic as well. I will have to admit there is no greater feeling in this game than finally finding an gun that is truly worth owning.

Wish they did more with porting it over to a PC though. Don't get me wrong it plays very well on the PC but there are a lot of things that just scream this is a console game. Like hitting enter and escape to accept or say no where as the mouse would be better at doing. The mouse sensitivity needed major work. Every time I play the game I move the mouse and I like damn this is way too sensitive. As I play the game I somewhat get use to the sensitivity but having an ability to really set it to what I want would be nice. Yes there is a sensitivity slider in the option but even the low end is still to high for me. Also getting online takes some work. You need to open from ports on your firewall/router and use Gamespy network to play. Once done co-op is a blast to play and probably the best way to play this game.

If you have the option, rent this game for the 360 or PS3. I don’t believe the console experience is any better than the PC and in fact may actually be better due to how online play works. If you enjoy the game then go ahead and buy it. If you don't have a 360 or a PS3 not sure what to tell you. Borderlands is either a game you will like or a game you won't. It is hard to tell until you get into the game. For those PC owners, I guess find a friend who bought it for the PC and try it on his machine or wait and hope Gearbox releases a PC demo of the game.
