It has promise! Not quite as action oriented as I would like but its not bad. Not sure I like the control scheme though. Which I could move with the arrow keys or something instead of having to hold the right mouse button all the time. Hey its still Alpha things can change!
The biggest problem this game has is trying to figure out what to do. There is no help with the game. The website offers very little in terms of how to play. Thankfully the forums and fan sites came to the rescue. www.armadahq.com has a nice New Player's Guide. So while you are downloading this game head over to Armada HQ and read the guide. Also once you start playing asking for advise will yield good results as well. After a few trips to the starting sector you will pick up on how the game is played and how you advance.
Personally I love the graphics for the game but hey I'm a sucker for top down shooters. Things are detailed and look outstanding though I wish I could play this game in high resolutions. Right now its stuck in a 1024x768 size window or full-screen. Again the game is in alpha and rather work be done on game play than the graphics and my lack of playing it at 1920x1200. Each race has its own style each upgrade to ships has their own looks. It shows that they care about the look of the game with details like this. The armada (the bad guys) all have a organic look to them and resemble crabs and other crab like creatures. Also don't go thinking this is a sprite based game cause it’s made from 3d models and it shows ship bank and turn space stations feel like that belong instead of just stuck in space.
The sound and music of the game fits and can't wait to hear new tracks as the game continues to update. Right now the music can be overplayed but again its an alpha! Hoping more music tracks come out soon and are just as good as the one in the game currently.

If you happen to be in a sector blasting the armada and see MasterAwol fly-by don't turn your guns on him and say "Hi". See you in the game and don't get crab guts all over your nice shiny ship!
